The DOE’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy has awarded CMU researchers over $1.1 million for the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning tools. Energy Fellow Zachary Ulissi (ChemE) will lead a project on reinforcement learning and machine learning potentials for catalyst metastability; and Energy Fellow & UTC Researcher Venkat Viswanathan’s team will use the funding to speed up the process of materials innovation for electrochemical devices, batteries for next-generation electric vehicles and new routes to making chemicals and fuels.
