Today, Mobility21 UTC released its latest “Research Recap” for project “Driving Low-Income Mothers to Greater Success: The Impact of Ridehailing on Income and Employment. The recaps are one-page overviews of the UTC funded research that describe the research project’s purpose, approach, key findings, conclusions, contact information for the research team and a link to the final research report.

KiltHub

CMU Now Listed as U.S. DOT Conformant Repository

KiltHub, a platform provided by the University Libraries that collects, preserves and provides global access to CMU’s research, has been approved as a United States Department of Transportation (US DOT) Conformant Repository.

“It sets CMU apart as one of only a handful of universities whose repositories are part of this elite group,” said Lisa Kay Schweyer, program manager of the Traffic21 InstituteMobility21 and CMU National University Transportation Centers. “It also gives our faculty access to the KiltHub staff, who can support them in their archiving and preservation tasks.”

Rail-Based Mass Transit a Possibility in the Future

Pop-Up Metro, a battery-powered, modular train that can be inserted onto existing infrastructure is a rail-based mass transit system in the United States was developed by Henry Posner III, adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University.  Henry is also the chairman of Railroad Development Corporation, a Mobility21 deployment partner.  Read the full article here.

New National Artificial Intelligence Research Institutes Named

“Carnegie Mellon University researchers will contribute to four of the 11 new National Artificial Intelligence Research Institutes announced today by the National Science Foundation.”  Mobility21 UTC researchers Jodi Forlizzi and Aaron Steinfeld are involved in one of these institutes, AI-CARING (focused on assisting in the care of the elderly by seeking to understand and manage the interaction between humans and AI agents).  Learn more here.

TRB TDM Committee Held Mid-Year Meeting

The TRB TDM Committee held its mid-year meeting today.  The group reviewed the committee’s mission and its draft strategic plan.  Lisa Kay Schweyer, Mobility21 Program Manager, was added to the committee membership earlier this year and this was her first meeting as a member.
