The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) released a new Broad Agency Announcement seeking testable solutions that offer new capabilities for understanding multimodal travelers’ decisions.
Advancements in techniques for studying travel behavior are needed to maximize opportunities for safe and effective mobility in an increasingly connected world. Although the future is impossible to predict with certainty, it will likely involve greater challenges with traffic management, greater interest in multimodal transportation options, wider options in terms of data availability and modes of wireless transmission, and a greater demand and opportunity for intelligent transportation management on a user and system level.
