TuSimple self-driving commercial trucks coming to a highway near you

TuSimple, a Chinese-American startup, aims to rollout 25 commercial tractor trailers throughout Arizona highways by the end of the year.
Chuck Price, TuSimple’s vice president of products, is confident in the system’s ability to ensure the safety of drivers on the road.
“We believe that these vehicles will operate safer than human drivers,” Price said. TuSimple utilizes specially-equipped cars that map out routes for the trucks.
The trucks are fitted with an array of cameras and sensors.
“The cameras can see and identify objects reliably at over 300 meters. That gives us time to respond long before an incident turns into a crisis,” Price said.
