The Revolution Will Be Electrified: How Cities Are Dealing With New Mobility

Most of all, though, we need to change our way of thinking to save our planet and our health. Sixty percent of trips in urban areas less than a mile in length are taken by car. This is insanity — and is the self-imposed result of designing and retrofitting our cities for cars instead of for human beings. Shared, electric mobility in various shapes, sizes, and ranges is the future for the short trips that we take to get from neighborhood to neighborhood in our cities (as the streetcar was, and is, in some cities again). The innovations we are seeing from new companies figuring out how to best deliver this new service is a big part of solving the urban mobility equation.
