The ITS uses microwave radar to detect locations and speed of the vehicles. The data captured are then transferred via Internet to the control centre before automatically sending out warning messages to the alert boards on the highways and inform relevant officers via SMS.
The system is capable in detecting over-speeding vehicles and those that violate the traffic regulation. The automatic warning messages will alert and remind motorists to reduce the speed and be more careful at some critical spots on the highways.
