TESLA FALLS BEHIND—AND GETS A FASTER NEW COMPETITOR

Tesla also faces renewed competition from Faraday Future, which recently claimed to have the fastest electric car, and says it will begin deliveries of its FF91next year. Faraday Future, which recently saw the departure of a number of executives, including the company’s global C.E.O., claims its own vehicle can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.39 seconds; by comparison, Tesla’s Model S P100D can do the same in 2.5 seconds. Chinese billionaire Jia Yueting, who is backing the electric-car upstart, is currently working to drum up investor interest in Faraday to launch a full-scale challenge to Tesla. With 1,050 horsepower and an adjusted range of 378 miles, the FF91 could give the Model S a run for its money.
