The association also suggests new technologies and smarter management practices will play a role in helping states address the challenge of aging infrastructure without increasing funding. AASHTO says to specifically watch out for more vehicle-to-vehicle communications, greater use of intelligent transportation systems, accelerated bridge construction, new paving techniques, and practical design strategies.
