Ohio State Research Boosts Smart Columbus

Mobility21 UTC academic partner, the Ohio State University’s Center for Automotive Research (CAR) continues to build on mobility research.

Harvey Miller, director of the Center for Urban and Regional Analysis (CURA), pointed to the Smart Columbus Operating System, an open source data site, as an exciting legacy for the program. “The type of work we’ve been doing for Smart Columbus has included looking at the impacts of these programs and things such as mobility, accessibility and travel times,” he said. “I’m very interested in the impacts of new transportation technologies and services on really improving the conditions in our cities from a social equity and environmental point of view.”  Read more here.

 

The Ohio State University Hosts Camp CAR

Today, Mobility21 Program Manager Lisa Kay Schweyer participated in The Ohio State University’s (UTC academic partner) Camp CAR.  The camp allowed attendees to tour CAR labs, hear from and converse with CAR researchers and students and take a look inside the Student Projects Motorsports facility.

Today, industry, government and campus partners attended The Ohio State Center for Automotive Research’s (CAR) semiannual External Advisory Board meeting. The meeting provided an opportunity to highlight CAR’s capabilities in a variety of labs including the new Battery Labs and the Driving Dynamics Lab as well as unveiling the 2019 CAR Annual Report.

CAR Introduces High School Students to Automotive Engineering

The Ohio State Center for Automotive Research provided a unique STEM experience for high school students this summer at Camp CAR, a week long summer day camp intended to educate students 14-18 year olds on various aspects of engineering and mobility.  Learn more here.

OSU Participates in Meetings with Ohio Congressional Offices to Discuss Mobility Projects

Maryn Weimer, Director of Mobility & Senior Associate Director of the Ohio State University’s Center for Automotive Research participated in meetings with Congressional offices with representative leaders from TRC, COTA, the Columbus Partnership, and DriveOhio.  The group met with Senator Brown, and Representatives Stivers, Beatty, Balderson, and Jordan.  The purpose of the meetings was discuss various mobility projects and programs.

Summer School in Advanced Mobility Held at Ohio State University

More than 25 individuals from both industry and academia had the opportunity to learn from each other at the inaugural Summer School in Advanced Mobility held at The Ohio State University (Mobility21 UTC academic partner),  May 6-8, 2019. This three-day program provided a high level overview of topics related to automotive mobility including electrification and storage, connected and autonomous vehicles, multi-modal transportation and security, all taught by Ohio State faculty experts.
