Mr. Peduto said the city would use the state funds to “leverage” other state or federal money to support the city’s proposal to improve transportation and revitalize the economy of the region.
“I think what [Ms. Richards] saw was the opportunity to use what we are proposing and spread it across the state,” the mayor said. “Their $11 million is an investment in what we are trying to do.”
“This project will help the city upgrade and modernize its transportation and energy infrastructure, and we are hopeful the state’s commitment will help spur additional investments to strengthen Pittsburgh’s proposal,” the statement said.
