Self-Driving Car Companies are Ready to Ramp Up Hiring, But The Skills Needed are in Short Supply

For now, much of the talent entering the self-driving vehicle industry is coming out of top computer science and robotics programs around the country.

Schools like Carnegie Mellon University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, and the University of California, Berkeley, are producing some of the most sought-after talent. It is one of the reasons Uber’s Advanced Technologies Group, its self-driving vehicles division, has a presence in Pittsburgh, where Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Institute is one of the top programs in the world.
