Pitt Ohio’s Transportation Tech Spinout Raises Seed-Stage Funding

Idelic uses proprietary machine learning predictive analytics to help transportation fleets identify at-risk drivers and assign corrective action before accidents happen. It is collaborating with Carnegie Mellon University’s Master of Science in Information Technology program to develop algorithms that can predict which drivers are most at risk for accidents, incidents, injuries, violations and citations. Its flagship product, SafetyBox, allows companies to automate compliance processes, integrate all of their systems and gain insight and analytics on their drivers and overall operations.

Pitt Ohio is an owner of Idelic; CEO Chuck Hammel described his company’s stake as small. The software was developed by Pitt Ohio’s safety department “over the course of probably 10-12 years,” Hammel said.
