Nvidia And Mercedes To Roll Out Software-Defined Autonomous Vehicles By 2024!

Now, we have a new addition to this list. If reports are to be believed, then German automobile company Mercedes and American Technology Company Nvidia Corporation have joined hands to build software-defined vehicles that are enabled with autonomous features! Yes, that’s right!

The architecture of the software is based on Nvidia’s Drive AGX Orin System On Chip (SoC) platform. The AGX Orin has around 17 billion transistors, which carry out some 200 trillion operations per second. Although it is an open system, the cars will be loaded with software exclusively designed for Mercedes. The vehicles equipped with the software will receive over-the-air software updates.

According to the CEO and founder of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, they want to bring about a change in the way cars are owned. He wants to make the vehicles “software programmable and continuously upgradeable via over the air updates.”
