NREC to Automate Highway Data Analysis

Carnegie Mellon University National Robotics Engineering Center
Researchers from NREC want to open up this bottleneck.  They’re planning to use machine learning and image processing techniques to automate the analysis of videos and other highway data.  Their goals are to make it easier and faster to study these large-scale data sets and extract information from them.  These innovative methods will give transportation researchers the keys to unlock the potential of the data they’ve collected.   Funding for this two-year program comes from a $1 million grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
