Louisville airport forges partnership with U of L to focus on innovation

Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport and the University of Louisville are teaming up to research innovative opportunities for travelers’ experience and airport operations, the Louisville Regional Airport Authority announced Thursday.

Through this first-of-its-kind agreement for Louisville’s main airport, the airport’s campus — all facilities, terminal and airfield — will be used as an innovation lab for projects led by U of L faculty and students…

Watson described the partnership as one that comes in phases, with the first phase being “fact finding” in which U of L researchers and airport staff will have a future creating workshop to identify specific projects.

Watson also pointed to other examples of successful innovation labs and partnerships, such as Pittsburgh International Airport with Carnegie Mellon University.
