Intelligent Transportation Society picks Pittsburgh for meeting, expo

Stan Caldwell, executive director of Traffic 21 at CMU, said Pittsburgh’s on-the-ground deployment of smart technology — such as automated traffic signals to respond to traffic flow, and mounted cameras on city vehicle underbeds to track road conditions — shows the region has willing partners for such projects. “This is the kind of exposure that puts us on the map that says, ‘Hey, if you want to see interesting, innovative things that are happening in transportation, take a look at Pittsburgh,’” he said. “The more we develop that reputation, the more investments we’ll get in smart transportation.”
