Dan Ammann, CEO of the Detroit-based automaker’s autonomous unit, penned a post to Medium Wednesday, July 24 detailing the next steps.
The Associated Press reports the CEO said the San Francisco fleet would launch “as soon as possible” through a spokesperson. It was also added that deployment is “gated by safety,” and that it is unlikely to reach its self-imposed 2019 timeframe…
“This not a concept car — hundreds of the best Honda, GM and Cruise engineers are working together on-site in Warren, Michigan, where they are deep into the vehicle development process. This new vehicle completely re-imagines from the ground up what a car can be and we can’t wait to share more in the near future.”
