‘Diverging diamond’ planned to relieve Minnesota Highway 15

The St. Cloud area could soon see a new kind of highway interchange that eliminates one of the biggest causes of delays and crashes — the left turn — by having cars briefly drive on the opposite side of the road. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is proposing to build a $17.5 million interchange next year at one of the area’s busiest intersections. The design is called a diverging diamond, and it would be the one of the first in the state.
