DENSO opens Pittsburgh research and development facility

Japan-based DENSO announced Wednesday the opening of its Pittsburgh Innovation Lab, which will focus on autonomous driving research and development, according to a news release.

DENSO started operations in July in 10,000 square feet of space at the at 2515 Liberty Ave. Ten DENSO employees will be based out of the location.

According to the release, DENSO will study level 4 automated driving technologies. The lab will work in partnership with local universities and companies in the city.

The Pittsburgh Innovation Lab marks the sixth R&D center for the company.
