Construction to start on new $9 million traffic management center in Jacksonvillle

The center will have walls of video screens and desktop monitors connected to a network of cameras, road sensors and electronic signs. The roadside technology covers about 200 miles of road in the region and is growing.
The technology enables authorities to react faster to changing road conditions, whether it’s dispatching an ambulance if there’s a crash or removing debris that is blocking a lane of traffic.
