CMU, Bosch to create new AI lab; university lands $8M in research funding

A new artificial intelligence lab is setting up shop in Pittsburgh’s Strip District.

Carnegie Mellon University is partnering with the Bosch Group, a German-based supplier of technology and services, to establish the Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence (BCAI) Research Lab.

In addition, Bosch is investing $8 million into the university to sponsor artificial intelligence research on campus…

In May, the university also announced it would offer the nation’s first bachelor’s degree in artificial intelligence and Facebook announced it would set up an AI lab, here.

Bosch’s new Pittsburgh-based AI lab is the fourth of its kind, joining others in Renningen, Germany; Sunnyvale, Calif.; and Bangalore, India.
