Carnegie Mellon smells a rat, and Chicago is grateful

Carnegie Mellon University and the City of Chicago’s Department of Innovation and Technology are collaborating to build an open-source predictive analytics platform that can help city leaders make faster decisions to address and prevent issues before they develop.
Funded by the Bloomberg Mayor’s Challenge, the “Chicago SmartData Platform” incorporates predictive analytics into the day-to-day operations of more than a dozen city departments to address challenges related to public health, sanitation, traffic management, public safety and infrastructure maintenance.
