We don’t stop at the research phase.

We focus on bridging the gap between research and practice to deliver real impact on the current landscape of transportation. Our technology transfer program provides strategic training, workshops, nationwide conferences, and technical assistance that provide researchers with an opportunity to solve real-world problems.

But technology transfer cannot happen without demonstrating the utility of the technology first. Thus, every research and development project will be undertaken with the goal of actually deploying a pilot demonstration. When deployment succeeds, the technology will be transferred.

Backed by top university technology transfer programs, our impressive record of accomplishment speaks for itself. We leverage our extensive networks of support for commercializing inventions and innovations, including providing gap funds, social media networks, and incubator spaces on or near university partner campuses. Our goal is to create additional opportunities for Mobility21 research to make a direct impact on the current landscape of transportation.

Sector Crossing Initiatives

    National Mobility Summit

Every year, the National Mobility Summit convenes national transportation leaders representing government, community, and industry needs along with University Transportation Center faculty and students doing mobility research. The goal is for UTC research to continue addressing real-world mobility needs.

Deployment Partner Consortium & Annual Meetings

These annual meetings invite our deployment partners to not only hear from others on deployment success, but also to think about the problems that keep them up at night. We develop a collaborative atmosphere where Deployment Partner Consortium members and researchers discuss R&D and D&T opportunities.

Onboard New Deployment Partner Transportation Professionals

Mobility21 also works to help onboard new deployment partner transportation professionals. We will continue to work with groups like PennDOT on workshops for new employees. The professional come to campus for an overview of the UTC and its activities, meet with researchers and tour UTC labs.
